“Provides a concrete approach that is easy to understand and easy to apply.” — Columbia Law School News

“The bar candidate is actually taught to write analytically. All 1Ls, as well as all 3Ls, should read it . . . .” — Law Student Journal, November 2006

“This book may be the best [money] you can spend on bar exam preparation.” — St. John’s University Law School Forum

Paperback: 284 pagesPublisher: BarWrite Press; 3 edition (September 1, 2005)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0970608810ISBN-13: 978-0970608819 Product Dimensions: 8.3 x 0.6 x 11 inches Shipping Weight: 1.5 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #34,207 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #5 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > Professional > Bar Exam #33 in Books > Law > Legal Education > Test Preparation #57 in Books > Education & Teaching > Higher & Continuing Education > Test Preparation > Professional > Professional

I recently used this book to prepare for New York’s bar exam essays. This book gives you a viable succinct format for writing bar exam essays. I took the BarBri workshop and this book was far more useful. It has many practice questions and essays (includes most states). For those of us who do not have the luxury of time to spend in endless workshops, this book allows you to learn the methodology at your own pace, and practice, practice, practice. Definitely worth every penny of the price.

I took BarBri and PMBR. However, neither taught a SYSTEM for writing essay responses. So, I searched for a system and found this book. After practicing the author’s "Under Here Therefor" method, and her question-outlining method, I felt much more prepared.

I just passed Nevada’s bar exam…one of the more difficult exams. I used the system. I credit this book for making the exam manageable.

Spend the fifty bucks now, and avoid failing!

This is a good product, and gave good insights into how to write bar essays. It is not specifically geared to CA, which is fine if you aren’t in CA. I learned some techniques and strategies that I have applied and improved my essays. It does not provide a lot of samples that I found helpful, but the instruction part is good.

This is a must have if you’re using the Waltz and Park textbook. But I recommend it no matter what textbook you have. The outline is very clear, very thorough, and lays out both Cal and Fed rules of evidence.

Great summary. It’s better if you read the FRE before and use the book to make sure you understand everything. No need to make a summary of your own with this book

had to get it for a law class, though this class is not my favorite I am learning a lot. is a great place to buy your school books!

John J Connolly, EdD & Jean Morgan, MD identify the top doctors in America and provide consumers with detailed information about their education, training and special expertise in printed guides. Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. is America’s trusted source for identifying top doctors and the best in American medicine.

Series: America’s Top DoctorsPaperback: 1600 pagesPublisher: Castle Connolly Medical Ltd; 14th edition (January 1, 2015)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 1935036017ISBN-13: 978-1935036012 Product Dimensions: 8.8 x 6.5 x 2.4 inches Shipping Weight: 3.2 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #453,856 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #134 in Books > Textbooks > Medicine & Health Sciences > Medicine > Clinical > Physician & Patient #349 in Books > Medical Books > Research #473 in Books > Textbooks > Medicine & Health Sciences > Research

I returned this guide, it may contain useful information , but too difficult to find. It is organized by region, not state, not city. The doctors specialities also poorly organized. I would not recommend the book version perhaps online membership more useful.

Everyone in the U.S. Needs this book. I have saved two lives of friends by referring them to a physician from this book.

I’m an R.N. Paralegal & use this frequently to obtain medical experts

This book was very interesting. I used it for CHP 480 at Old Dominion University. The access code that comes with this book gets you access to some pretty cool Learnscape Modules from Jones & Bartlett. The modules are great cause they give you practical lessons to apply what you’ve learned from the textbook.

The book was written well but it was of nearly no use to me because of the class. The school switched to this edition but failed to update their curriculum so I just have up on the book.

It’s full of real life examples, very useful.

Electronic and Experimental Music: Technology, Music, and Culture 4th Edition Pdf Download

Electronic and Experimental Music: Technology, Music, and Culture 4th Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Thom Holmes Page ID: 0415896460

Review

‘For me, this book is my student’s primary resource – it exists as a place to reference what is done in class, it’s there to show a historical path, it’s there to read about how others have treated the electronic world in a musical fashion – I view its place very highly at present.’ – Frank Felice, Butler University

…Holmes clearly worked meticulously to provide a well-written, easily understandable text delving into the history of electronic music. The content is thoughtfully prepared, thoroughly investigated and presented in a way that invites and informs newcomers and experts alike. The 4th edition’s expansions enhance the text and make it even more appealing as a text for courses delving into electronic music with pop culture, rock, or jazz…’ – Elainie Lillios, Bowling Green State University

Treating Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders : An Evidence-Based Guide 1st Edition Free PDF

Treating Complex Traumatic Stress Disorders (Adults): An Evidence-Based Guide 1st Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Christine A. Courtois Page ID: 1606230395

Review

“Courtois and Ford present an essential, comprehensive work for clinicians and researchers. Evidence-based practice recommendations for psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment are presented–carefully adapted for those suffering from complex traumatic stress disorders–and a range of treatment models are clearly described. Rich clinical material, and attention to management of the therapeutic alliance, therapist self-care, and other key challenges in working with these clients, make this a most useful and innovative resource.”–Josef I. Ruzek, PhD, Director, Dissemination and Training Division, National Center for PTSD

“This is the single best source for clinical expertise in complex traumatic stress disorders. Leading clinicians and researchers share a rich array of individual, couple, family, and group therapy models that illustrate basic treatment principles and best practices. Informed by recent research, the contributors cover the developmental and neurobiological background against which to frame essential assessment and treatment issues. Chapters on such pragmatic topics as vicarious traumatization and risk management offer advice on reducing stress for therapists working with these challenging cases.”–Frank W. “Treatments based on a traditional conceptualization of PTSD are frequently insufficient to address the diverse, long-lasting, and pervasive effects of complex trauma. This book offers a comprehensive review of treatment considerations, assessment measures, best practices, and evidence-based treatment approaches specifically tailored for psychotherapy with people who have experienced prolonged abuse and neglect by caregivers. An indispensable guide for any mental health professional who works with trauma survivors.”–Pamela C. Alexander, PhD, Senior Research Scientist, Wellesley Centers for Women

“A valuable addition to the libraries of both novice and experienced clinicians who treat patients with disorders as varied as reactive attachment disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, dissociative disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder….An unparalleled contribution to the existing literature on assessment and intervention with survivors of complex trauma. There are few existing compilations that have collected such a wide variety of treatment approaches from such prominent authors, and it is probable that this is the most comprehensive and current review to date. While multiple evidence-based treatment strategies are given attention in this book, it is detailed enough so that the reader is able to make an informed decision about whether to pursue an approach. In addition, several chapters describe essential understanding required for working with any survivor of complex trauma regardless of the particular intervention style….One of the book’s highlights is its thoughtful and comprehensive summary of assessment tools for the clinician treating survivors of complex traumatic stress….Courtois and Ford have assembled an impressive volume of empirically-informed assessment and treatment approaches that ‘honor and support the resilience of trauma survivors as they carry on with their lives and enrich the lives of their families and communities.'”

(Trauma Psychology Newsletter (APA Division 56) 2009-02-07)

"This book is likely to appeal to clinicians who are eager to learn more about the area of complex traumatic stress and novel approaches to treating associated problems. The text is well-written and organized, making it easy to follow."

(Journal of Contemporary Psychotherapy 2009-02-07)

"Will surely become a classic textbook on complex traumatic stress. This book is appropriate for students, clinicians, and academics alike. Because the concept of complex trauma is still evolving, this text can educate and inform students in training as well as seasoned clinicians….The authors of the book are leaders in the field of trauma and they artfully illustrate the nuances of the disorder as well as subsequent treatment through rich case examples….In our current mental health climate, there exists a psychiatric debate about formally establishing Complex PTSD as a disorder. In such a climate this book documents the current knowledge and evidence supporting the disorder and will surely help to shift the paradigm of how complex trauma is understood, assessed for, and ultimately healed from."

(Clinical Social Work Journal 2009-02-07)

"Editors Courtois and Ford unite to provide a thorough, stimulating, and current text on treating a very challenging population of individuals with complex trauma….This is an important and highly relevant book, addressing a complex problem, organizing what empirical support there is for the many approaches which are currently utilized and expanded for this population. Even if you do not work with traumatized individuals, there is much to learn from this book. It can be therapeutically profitable. Well-written, it has an impressive list of contributors, and Ford has a hand in many of the chapters. This book is highly recommended and well-worth its asking price."

(Child and Family Behavior Therapy 2009-02-07)

"Presents a well-researched, comprehensive source for clinical expertise in the area of complex traumatic stress disorder—specifically PTSD."

(EABP Newsletter 2009-02-07)

"The book has a compelling philosophical unity about it – essentially humanistic, and broadly cognitive and behavioural. Among all this solid evidence-based theory and practice, I also felt uplifted by a sense of optimism….I heartily recommend this book to any psychological therapist or medical practitioner who is called upon to help those whose life experiences have resulted in intransigent mental health issues that may thus far have been diagnosed as a developmental disorder, personality disorder (particularly borderline), or post-traumatic stress disorder."

(Healthcare, Counselling, and Psychotherapy Journal 2009-02-07)

"This book is welcome as it pulls together theoretical and clinical approaches to understanding and helping people with difficulties following multiple and prolonged traumatic experiences….This book addresses important issues and was stimulating both academically and clinically….The book will be useful to most therapists, but especially those who regularly work with people whose main problems are associated with abusive or neglectful experiences in early childhood."

(Journal of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy 2009-02-07)

"A valuable addition to understanding and treating complex traumatic  stress disorders, this book will enhance the knowledge and therapeutic  toolbox of any practitioner working with clients who have had complex  psychological traumas….I really appreciated the insights offered by  the contributors and the wealth of experience and knowledge assembled by  the editors."

(Addiction Today 2010-02-14)

"The first comprehensive overview on assessment and treatment of complex traumatic stress disorders. Both authors are experts in the field and have worked as clinicians with trauma survivors facing the clinical reality of complex manifestations of trauma….All the chapters are extremely well written and very informative. Each chapter makes a significant contribution to this important, fast-developing field….This important text is a clear contribution to the position that complex traumatic stress disorders can be conceptualized as a separate clinical entity….This book provides a complete overview over the current thinking regarding complex trauma disorders and should be required reading for all researchers and clinicians working with this population."

As a psychotherapist, I’ve struggled to treat various forms of Complex PTSD, in children & adults, for over 20 years, including borderline personality disorder, Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and current forms of multi-deployment Combat PTSD.

This recent collection of 20 articles from over 30 leading scholars, researchers and clinicians in the field will doubtless be the standard reference for Complex PTSD for many years. If you want to know more about how to understand, diagnose and treat Complex PTSD, START HERE! The articles are divided into three sections: overview, individual treatment approaches and strategies and – what a relief! – systemic treatment approaches and strategies. I say, "What a relief!", as often in reviews of treatment approaches, systemic approaches are given short shrift. And in my experience, systemic approaches are often VERY much needed, in some cases indispensible, for healing Complex PTSD, especially with children & teens, and especially with major problems with attachment – one sadly common hallmark of Complex PTSD. Each article has an extensive bibliography for those who want to know more.

The "Overview" section covers a satisfyingly large number of topics, including current approaches to understanding & defining Complex PTSD, overviews on best Practices with children & teens and with adults, cultural issues, risk management/treatment alliance and compassion fatigue/vicarious traumatizing. I want to compliment the editors for this last article. Few areas of psychotherapy are more prone to therapist burnout via PTSD by association than Complex PTSD.

Putnam, MD, Departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center

The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride: S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure Paperback – October 8, 2007
Author: Visit ‘s William Goldman Page ID: 0156035154

.com Review

The Princess Bride is a true fantasy classic. William Goldman describes it as a “good parts version” of “S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure.” Morgenstern’s original was filled with details of Florinese history, court etiquette, and Mrs. Morgenstern’s mostly complimentary views of the text. Much admired by academics, the “Classic Tale” nonetheless obscured what Mr. Goldman feels is a story that has everything: “Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Poison. True love. Hate. Revenge. Giants. Hunters. Bad men. Good men. Beautifulest ladies. Snakes. Spiders. Beasts of all natures and descriptions. Pain. Death. Brave men. Coward men. Strongest men. Chases. Escapes. Lies. Truths. Passion. Miracles.”

Goldman frames the fairy tale with an “autobiographical” story: his father, who came from Florin, abridged the book as he read it to his son. Now, Goldman is publishing an abridged version, interspersed with comments on the parts he cut out.

Is The Princess Bride a critique of classics like Ivanhoe and The Three Musketeers, that smother a ripping yarn under elaborate prose? A wry look at the differences between fairy tales and real life? Simply a funny, frenetic adventure? No matter how you read it, you’ll put it on your “keeper” shelf. –Nona Vero –This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The greatness of this book is truly, in the word’s of Vizzini "INCONCEIVABLE!" What’s this book about? Fencing, fighting, true love, strong hate, harsh revenge, a few giants, lots of bad men, lots of good men, pain, death, brave men, coward men, escapes, lies, truth, passion, miracles. It’s hilarious, heart breaking, and terrifying all at the same time. If none of that sounds good to you, or if you’ve seen the movie and didn’t like it, don’t read the book. If you liked the movie, the book is twice as good!
Who’s the genius behind this incredible book? The answer is simple, William Goldman (which is another whole story in its self). If you look at the book you’ll read: "S. Morgenstern’s Classic Tale of True Love and High Adventure. The "good parts version" abriged by William Goldman." In Goldman’s introduction he explains how when he was a ten years old and was home sick with pneumonia, his father read him the book. (Sound farmiliar? If you’re remembering the scene between the grandfather and the boy in the book you’re right.) His father was a poor, English struggling immigrant from Florin, the setting of the Princess Bride. His father explains how Morgenstern was a great writer in his country and that there it is a very famous book. Goldman obviously loves the book.
As a man, Goldman decides to give the book to his son, Jason for his tenth birthday. After putting in an enormous amount of time and money to track down the book, to his shock the son hates it. In turn, he decides to re-read the book for himself. What he discovers is that his father didn’t actually read him the whole book, he only read him the good parts. The book in fact was not even really focussing on the story he heard, it’s actually all about the history of Florin.

Silver Linings: A Rose Harbor Novel by Debbie Macomber is the fourth book in the series. Jo Marie Rose loves her new home and running The Inn at Rose Harbor in Cedar Cover, Washington. She has also enjoyed getting to know Mark Taylor. Mark has been working as her handyman. He recently confessed that he is love with Jo Marie and that he is leaving. Mark feels he is not worthy of Jo Marie. He has put his house up for sale and has barely talked to her the last three weeks as he has finished the gazebo (for Rose Harbor). Mark finishes the gazebo and leaves.

Jo Marie throws herself into her work about welcomes two new guests to the inn. Katie Gilroy and Coco Crenshaw have arrived for their ten year class reunion. Katie is hoping to reconnect with her first love, James. Coco wants to get even with Ryan Temple. Ryan humiliated Coco during their senior year of high school after the homecoming dance. Will Rose Harbor help Katie and Coco as it has past guests?

Jo Marie is trying to move on now that Mark has left. Bob Beldon has come by and told her Mark’s true reason for leaving (not that it helped her). Jo Marie has joined the Survivor Outreach Services (a support group) and reconnected with her old friend, Gina. Gina has decided to set up Jo Marie on a date with her fiancé’s older brother, Rich. Jo Marie has not been on a date since the death of her husband. You just know the date is not going to go well. Jo Marie needs to decide how she really feels about Mark before she can decide what to do with her love life.

I was delighted to read Silver Linings. It was a heartwarming novel. I do not read this type of book often (not anymore), but I love Debbie Macomber’s novels (and this was no exception).
A special thank you to Random House/Ballantine and LibraryThing Early Reviewers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Award-Winning author, Debbie Macomber returns with her much awaited charming Cedar Cove Rose Harbor Inn series, with the fourth installment, SILVER LININGS—a heartwarming story of second chances in this idyllic town of special unforgettable characters.

Having read all the previous books in the Rose Harbor Series,a delight to catch up with familiar characters. Recommend reading all!

When First They Met (Rose Harbor #0.5)
The Inn at Rose Harbor (Rose Harbor #1)
Lost and Found in Cedar Cove (Rose Harbor, #1.5)
Rose Harbor in Bloom (Rose Harbor, #2)
Love Letters (Rose Harbor #3)

Jo Marie is settling in with her bed and breakfast inn business, she purchased after her husband, Paul was killed in action, serving his country. We met mysterious handyman Mark Taylor who seems to intrigue Jo, and also a comfort to her, at the same time. They have become good friends, even though he is not forthcoming about his past, very rough around the edges.

Now, he has shared his feelings for her and she is starting to care, when he abruptly decides he is selling his house and leaving town with no reason. Mark does not think he is good enough for Jo Marie and she deserves better. Jo Marie is shocked by his behavior. Her mom tells her she needs to move on and get back out there and live again and forget him.

In the meantime, two guests, who are friends, visit Rose Harbor Inn for their upcoming high school reunion. Both women are living in the past regarding past loves and hurts. Things are not as simple as they had anticipated.
I found Debbie Macomber as an author with the first of the Rose Harbor novels (“The Inn at Rose Harbor”). What grabbed me from the first was her ability to eloquently describe the feelings of grief and loss that the main character, Jo Marie Rose, deals with when she discovers her husband is missing in action and presumed lost. Throughout the series, and especially in this book “Silver Linings”, Ms. Macomber continues to astound me with her ability to express feelings – both good and not good in a way that I can relate to. Once again, I spent a good portion of this book laughing and crying. I honestly don’t know what more you can ask from a novel about life.

In “Silver Linings”, we continue to follow Jo Marie’s evolving relationship with her handyman, Mark Taylor. At the end of the last book, Mark has expressed his feelings for Jo Marie, who is reeling from his declaration and spends most of this book trying to decipher what she feels for him.

Along with the Jo Marie storyline, we meet Katie and Coco. They are two friends who are in town for their ten year high school reunion. While they met in their last year of school, they bonded immediately and then each suffered an emotional setback that has haunted them for the last decade. They are attending the reunion, each with the intent of trying to resolve their set-back so they can get on with life. Their stories are told in flash-backs to their teenage years. It was an interesting way of incorporating elements of YA into a women’s literature novel. I don’t read a lot of YA but found that it worked well in this case for a one time story line. I am sure that Ms. Macomber does not intend to move this series into YA as the Jo Marie/Mark story is that of an adult couple.

A Preparation Guide for the Assessment Center Method 2nd Edition
Author: Visit ‘s Tina Lewis Rowe Page ID: 0398087512

From the Author

This Second Edition has the usual edits to improve the first one–and additional chapters, such as information on video-based assessment centers. I think the improvements and additions make it a good choice for those who have the first edition. I know I like it better!

I always say that the best approach is not to just learn a few techniques for getting through an assessment center, it’s to learn to do your job in the most effective ways possible–then apply what you’ve learned to your assessment center. That is why it is never too soon to begin preparing. It is also never too late to be better prepared than you would have otherwise.
I understand how hard many candidates work to do well. I understand the frustration, irritation and sometimes depression that is involved. I want to help reduce all of those negative feelings and give you a structure to help you use the exercises in your assessment center to show your knowledge and skills.
Please contact me if I can be a resource for this or anything else. Tina Lewis Rowe, Denver CO

About the Author

Tina Rowe served for 25 year on the Denver Police Department and retired as a Captain in Patrol. The next day she was sworn in as the presidential appointed United States Marshal for Colorado and served for 8 years. She was responsible for the security of the Oklahoma City bombing trials, held in Denver (US vs McVeigh and US vs Nichols). She was also the U.S. Marshal in Colorado during the events of 9/11/01.

Tina trains, presents and consults on topics related to supervision, management, leadership, professional development and organizational improvement. Her speaking style is both humorous and inspirational–and always with immediately applicable information.

Paperback: 330 pagesPublisher: Charles C Thomas Pub Ltd; 2 edition (September 11, 2013)Language: EnglishISBN-10: 0398087512ISBN-13: 978-0398087517 Product Dimensions: 0.8 x 7.5 x 10 inches Shipping Weight: 1.4 pounds (View shipping rates and policies) Best Sellers Rank: #89,135 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #47 in Books > Textbooks > Law > Criminal Law #57 in Books > Law > Criminal Law > Criminal Procedure #110 in Books > Textbooks > Business & Finance > Human Resources

I had four weeks to prepare for my assessment test and I believe this book is an asset in my preparation. I also believe buying several books is necessary in your preparation for an assessment test.

Rowe’s certainly a subject matter expert and proves her knowledge by going deep into the assessment process. I did wish Rowe could have given a few more sample answers to aid in the direction a student should take, but I understand her reasoning: develop your own.

In the end, this book is easy to read and gets to the point: your promotion.

I posted this review for the 1st edition of this book but I wanted to include it here for anyone buying the newer 2nd edition published in September 2013:

I bought this book (1st edition) for my wife while she was going through her police application process and can say without a doubt that it helped her pass her Assessment Center. The book is full of helpful information for anyone preparing for this stage of their application.

I also had the opportunity to correspond with the author (Tina Lewis Rowe) and I have to say, she is a fantastic lady who will go out of her way to help police applicants. She offered some great advice and even sent us some supplemental information by email (including material from her 2nd edition book which hadn’t yet been printed when I purchased the 1st edition). It was almost like getting a private tutoring session to go along with the book – Tina didn’t have to do any of that but she took the time to write multiple emails (many quite detailed) in an effort to further help my wife with the Assessment Center process.

This book is a fantastic resource for any police applicant going through the Assessment Center, written by an author who stands behind her work and will go above and beyond to help people she doesn’t even know. I definitely recommend it.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. I am preparing for an upcoming assessment and since it is to be my first experience being assessed I felt like I needed some help. Initially I was concerned about spending $42 on a fairly lengthy book. I wasn’t sure if it would help and I didn’t know if I would have the time to read it all. However, what I found in Ms. Rowe’s book was a very well written, easy to read and well organized manual. What you will not find are a lot of specific questions that one may be asked with their corresponding answers (Ms. Rowe explains very well why she does not include this type of help); regardless, I absolutely feel MUCH more prepared for my assessment. In addition, I plan on using this book throughout my career because not only does it have excellent assessment preparation suggestions, but it can easily serve as a "how to be an effective supervisor" book. Even the format of the book, i.e., spiral bound (to lay flat), large margins (for taking notes) and blank note taking space at the end of each chapter, was well thought out. I highly recommend this book.
